Artist Profile.

As a contemporary artist working in oils, I create paintings inspired by the local scenery and landscapes that surround me. Through my distinctive style, I aim to capture not only the appearance of a place but also its atmosphere, character and sense of light. Many of my pieces incorporate gold leaf, adding depth, texture and a unique luminosity that helps each work stand out.

My paintings reflect a personal interpretation of familiar scenes, combining traditional oil painting techniques with contemporary expression to create artworks that are both evocative and memorable.

As previous winner of Feile An Phobail 2025/26 Landscape Artist of the Year I am delighted to be exhibiting this year.

My pieces included in this years exhibition are shown below.

J'Adore Paris

£400.00

This enchanting painting captures the timeless romance and elegance of Paris at sunset. The iconic Eiffel Tower rises majestically in the centre of the composition, illuminated with sparkling highlights that draw the viewer's eye skyward. Beneath the tower, a tree-lined boulevard curves gently through the city, inviting a leisurely stroll into the heart of the French capital.

The artist has masterfully blended warm and cool tones, contrasting the radiant glow of the setting sun with dramatic shades of violet, blue, and pink across the evening sky. Enhancing this sense of luminosity, delicate applications of gold leaf shimmer along the horizon, capturing and reflecting light in a way that evokes the last golden rays of day. Gold leaf has also been carefully incorporated into the Eiffel Tower itself, giving the landmark a jewel-like brilliance and reinforcing its status as the focal point of the composition.

The charming Parisian buildings that frame the scene are brought to life through elegant architectural details, flower-filled balconies, and welcoming cafés. Subtle touches of gold leaf within the café windows create a warm, inviting glow, suggesting light spilling onto the street and adding depth and atmosphere to the painting. These luminous elements guide the viewer through the composition, creating a harmonious balance between reality and imagination.

Rich in colour, texture, and radiant light, this artwork celebrates the magic of Paris—a city where history, architecture, and romance blend effortlessly. The thoughtful use of gold leaf throughout the horizon, the Eiffel Tower, and the café windows introduces an additional dimension of brilliance, transforming the scene into a captivating vision of the City of Light and inviting viewers to experience its beauty, warmth, and enduring charm.

The painting comes in a beautiful white floating frame, the painting measures 80cm x 80cms and has a gloss varnish finish. This is a statement piece of art that will make any wall pop when displayed on it.

The shimmering gold highlights evoke a sense of warmth and timelessness to an atmospheric sky, while the rich layered oils bring dept and vibrancy to the nature landscape. The composition invites viewers to experience the serene atmosphere and enduring charm of Newry’s Greenway. A beautiful walkway that expands from Newry to Carlingford. A walkway that is enjoyed by many in Newry and Mourne.

The Gyles Tempest.

A brooding atmosphere enshrouds this dramatic coastal scene, where the wild spirit of Ireland’s shoreline comes alive. Icraus

£250.00

"Icarus"

This contemporary oil painting captures a moment of quiet reflection and hopeful movement at Murlough Beach. The sky is alive with soft purples and pinks, swirling through textured clouds that stretch across the canvas. A flock of birds drifts into the distance, symbolising migration and the promise of better times ahead.

In the foreground, the sea gently meets the shore, and a large puddle rests on the beach—its presence subtle yet powerful. Rather than reflecting the sky, the puddle stands as a symbol of resilience: a reminder that hard times are never permanent, much like an isolated puddle, this will fade. It invites the viewer to endure the challenges ahead and remain hopeful—there is always light beyond the storm.

Infused with textured sand collected directly from Murlough Beach, the painting is grounded in its place of origin. This natural element, combined with bold brushwork and symbolic imagery, makes Icarus a deeply personal and visually compelling piece—one that speaks to transition, endurance, and the quiet strength found in nature.

Finished with a high-gloss varnish and framed in a professional thick black wooden frame, this 40x 50cm canvas radiates mood and atmosphere.

Cottage by the sea

£150.00

This evocative landscape portrays the quiet solitude and dramatic beauty of the Mourne Mountains meeting the sea. Dominated by a vast bank of rolling cloud, the painting creates a powerful sense of atmosphere, with nature taking centre stage over the small human presence nestled within it.

A lone white cottage sits on a sunlit strip of land, its bright walls drawing the eye against the deep greens and greys of the mountain behind. The cottage appears sheltered yet isolated, emphasizing the remoteness and tranquillity of the setting. To the left, calm water stretches into the distance, softening the rugged contours of the landscape and balancing the weight of the mountainside.

The foreground is rendered in rich earthy tones, with dark heather and vegetation punctuated by flashes of warm rust and crimson. These colours contrast beautifully with the cool blues, greys, and whites of the sky and water. A shaft of golden light sweeps across the hillside, creating a fleeting moment of illumination that suggests a break in the weather—a familiar sight along the Mourne coast.

The composition is both simple and dramatic, using light, scale, and atmosphere to convey a deep sense of place. The painting captures the timeless character of the Mournes: rugged, peaceful, and ever-changing beneath expansive skies. It is a celebration of the resilience of rural life and the enduring beauty of one of Northern Ireland's most iconic landscapes.

This piece measures 20cm x20cms and comes in a beautiful white frame and gloss varnish finish. Suitable for any wall space, this piece would compliment its partner painting - "The lonely Cottage (Mournes).
